Glengarry, ON – The Glengarry Brigade are proud to announce the coaching staff that will lead the club in its inaugural season.
Our Head Coach will be Grant Cooper. Grant is coming off his first coaching season, leading the Char-Lan Rebels to the post-season in ‘23-’24. Prior to joining the Rebels, he wrapped up a successful career as a player, where he played in the EOJHL, CCHL and NCAA as an amateur, before stints in the ECHL, NIHL and EIHL, capped off with the prestigious “Grand Slam” in the UK’s top league. He has been a captain on several of his teams and plans to bring that leadership to the new club! Grant will also take on the General Manager role, supported by Assistant GM’s Jeff Carter, Marc Sauvé and Pat Sauvé.
Assuming the role of Associate Coach will be Michaël Prégent. Michaël coached the Alexandria Glens this past season. Under his leadership, the Glens saw a vast improvement in their play and record, competing for a playoff spot right until the final few games of the season. Prégent wrapped up a long Pro career following the 2022-23 season. After a strong Junior career in Quebec Junior AAA, his long hockey resume included time patrolling the blueline in the LHSAAAQ, EOSHL, FPHL, LNAH, FHL, LHSAM, LSCSCE and two seasons playing Pro in France. He has previous coaching experience when he served as head coach for the High School program in St-Polycarpe. He’s a teacher by trade and will be looking to convey his deep knowledge of the game to the Brigade!
Matt Grégoire will join the staff as an assistant coach. The Char-Lan Rebels alumni was a scoring forward in his playing career, which had him see time with the Ontario Hockey Academy, in the QJAAAHL and the EOJHL. Last season was his first behind the bench, serving as an assistant with the Rebels. He’ll bring his offensive instincts to the club and look to make the team a threat this fall!
Glengarry, ON – La Brigade de Glengarry est fière d’annoncer le personnel d’entraîneurs qui dirigera le club lors de sa saison inaugurale.
Notre entraîneur-chef sera Grant Cooper. Grant sort de sa première saison d’entraîneur, menant les Rebels en séries en ’23-’24. Avant de se joindre aux Rebels, il a conclu une brillante carrière de joueur, où il a joué dans l’EOJHL, la CCHL et la NCAA en tant qu’amateur, avant de faire des séjours dans l’ECHL, la NIHL et l’EIHL, couronnés par le prestigieux « Grand Slam » dans la meilleure ligue du Royaume-Uni. Il a été capitaine dans plusieurs de ses équipes et prévoit d’apporter ce leadership au nouveau club! Grant assumera également le rôle de directeur général, avec l’appui de Jeff Carter, Marc Sauvé et Pat Sauvé, les directeur général adjoint.
Michaël Prégent assumera le rôle d’entraîneur associé. Michael a mené les Glens la saison dernière. Sous sa direction, les Glens ont vu une grande amélioration de leur jeu et de leur fiche, se disputant une place en séries éliminatoires jusqu’aux derniers matchs de la saison. Prégent a conclu une longue carrière Pro après la saison 2022-23. Après une solide carrière junior dans le junior AAA du Québec, son CV au hockey comprenait du temps à patrouiller à la ligne bleue dans le LHSAAAQ, LOSHL, FPHL, LNAH, FHL, LHSAM, LSCSCE et deux saisons à jouer Pro en France. Il a pris de l’expérience derrière le banc lorsqu’il a été entraîneur-chef pour le programme de l’école secondaire à St-Polycarpe. Il est enseignant de métier et cherchera à transmettre sa connaissance approfondie du jeu à la Brigade!
Matt Grégoire se joindra également au personnel en tant qu’entraîneur adjoint. L’ancien des Rebels de Char-Lan a été un buteur talentueux dans sa carrière de joueur, ce qui lui a fait voir du temps avec le « Ontario Hockey Academy », dans la QJAAAHL et l’EOJHL. La saison dernière, étais sa première saison derrière le banc, en tant qu’assistant avec les Rebels.
